Cost to File

We know cost is one of the first things on your mind, so here's exactly what our fees look like, no hidden surprises.

We certainly understand your concerns about how much it costs to file bankruptcy. Unfortunately, the cost of filing for bankruptcy continues to increase and moreso post-pandemic. We strive to keep our fees reasonable without it affecting our customer service. We have some of the lowest fees in south central Pennsylvania and we don’t have any hidden fees.

Generally our attorney fees are as follows and they are NOT doubled for a married couple other than the additional credit pull fee. We reserve the right to charge more than the fees listed below at our discretion or for complex cases. Clients who own a business or are self-employed may pay an additional fee. We discuss all fees in advance during the free initial consult and provide them to you in writing so if there will be a chance we will discuss it with you then.

There are FOUR things you pay for when you file bankruptcy:  Attorney’s Fees, Credit Pull Fee, Filing Fee, Counseling Fee.  You will pay the attorney’s fees, credit pull fee, and filing fee to Fresh Start Law, PLLC and the Counseling you will pay directly to the provider on their website.

Chapter 7:  $2008 for one debtor; $2053 for two debtors (the difference is the second credit pull fee).  That price is broken down as follows:  $1625 in Attorney Fees, $338 filing fee, $45 credit pull fee ($90 for married debtors) for a total up front fee of $2008 for one person or $2053 for a couple.  $350 is due before the Zoom screenshare appointment.  That $350 is PART OF the $2008/$2053, not in addition to it.

Chapter 13: $2008 for one debtor; $2053 for two debtors (the difference is the second credit pull fee).  That price is broken down as follows:  $1650 in Attorney Fees, $313 filing fee, $45 credit pull fee ($90 for married debtors) for a total up front fee of $2008 for one person or $2053 for a couple.  There ARE addtional attorney fees in a Chapter 13 case (approximately $3400), and those fees are paid monthly, as part of your plan payment and are NOT due in advance.  $350 is due before the Zoom screenshare appointment.  That $350 is PART OF the $2008/$2053, not in addition to it.

Please see fee agreement for all the terms and conditions. ALL fees must be paid before your bankruptcy can be filed and all fees are non-refundable.

Fees are controlled by our fee agreement, which you will receive prior to making any payment to us. This web page is just an outline of our fees and is not binding. We provide you with a copy of our fee agreement right after the initial consultation so you have plenty of time to review it.

NOTE: If the filing fee goes up, you will have to pay that additional amount (it generally goes up every 3 years).
